Asbury Music Award nominated Chill Smith (formerly known as New Star) has been writing, recording and performing his music for capacity crowds throughout the East Coast of the United States, appearing at such venues as The Stone Pony, The Strand Theater, Stanhope House, House Of Independents, The Asbury, The Saint, Langosta Lounge, Brighten Bar and Asbury Lanes, Chill Smith has shared the stage with Joe Budden, Pharoahe Monch, Sugar Hill Gang, Des and The Swagmatics, Nappy Roots, Kosha Dillz and Sage Francis.
Chill Smith's self-produced and self-recorded EP is a blend of live instrumentation, sampled synths, and 808 drums. Each song is a raw and unfiltered examination of his experiences dealing with racism and prejudice. The lead single, “Swirl”, convey thoughts on black and white couples, and the struggles that come with those relationships. “I always wanted to talk about interracial dating. There’s a stigma about it, on both ends.”
Recently, Chill Smith along with his rap group, BrainStorm released thier first self-produced and self-titled project, now available for download and streaming.
